45 degree Flaring Tool
I have a 45 degree Flaring Tool from sears ($16.99) which is exactly the same to the one on summit racing one (part number - 900310)
I was practicing my first flares and the line kept on getting pushed out. So I kept on tightening more and more, but it kept on getting pushed out when I went to flare it. Until....it the bolt/rod broke. So I was wondering if I just happened to get one with bad bolts or maybe I am doing something wrong? I was trying to do the 1/4 brake line, cut it, cleaned it up, put it in(exposing proper amount) and when I tighten the adapter it just pushed it out, (same with flaring bit)
Thanks for any thoughts...

What metal are the brake lines? Those tools are usually for soft lines, like copper or aluminum.

I know exactly what's happening to you. I tried to flare my own brake lines (the stock ones that are about as hard as diamond) with a cheap tool like that, and you just can't do it. The lines kept getting pushed out, and I even tried putting duct tape and sand paper in there to keep it in, but it just crushed the tube. I took it to my mechanic/builder, and he had some $500 flaring tool that made short work of it.
Long story short, find someone with a better tool.
