Iceberg 140 amp generator kit

I got this kit about 5 days ago, installed it an hour or so (my first time really rebuilding an alternator). My bearings were fine on my stock alt so i didn't bother pulling them and putting on the new ones. They're the same size as the stock ones I had (it was a 105 amp) and since mine weren't damaged there was no need to replace them. With a little bit of soldering the kit was installed without a hitch. The instructions were detailed and step by step and the kit came with everything you might need except the solder of course. Before, my engine would bog down and the lights would dim when i had the lights on and turned on the coolant fan or heater. It's kind of cool now to not have that happen. I dont have a crazy stereo system setup, or lights and what not either.

On a difficulty scale, i'd have to rank this down at the bottom.

You definitely get your money's worth, and all the parts are high quality.

There's really no reason not to get this if you're having any sort of current problems or your alternator is dying out on you.

NQS is the company name. 85 dollars for the kit, shipping was about 9 bucks.

Seems like a lot, but you're getting very high quality parts, everything is much better than stock and it turns any rating CS-130 you may have to a 140 amp.

I did the IceBurg conversion several years ago because I was having problems with the diodes burning up do to excessive heat but it wasn't the 140 amp upgrade, just the extra cooling fins on the case, it was pretty easy but my old bearings were shot so I did change the bearings out and the front one is a pain, I had to end up taking it to a alternator rebuilding shop and have them get the old one off and put on the new one but the old guy didn't charge me a nickel

there are these neat tools called pullers that are basically designed to pull bearings off. They look like evil tripods with L's at the end and a big screw in the middle. Stick the three legs under the pulley and turn the screw until you're done. I would have used that to do the job if i had needed to. Apparently the tool is useless in putting them back on, which can be harder that it sounds.

I work at a machine shop and we had several bearing pullers handy, but none of them would grab the bearing because there wasn't enough room on the backside, I could have made a tool to do it but it was faster just to take it to the other shop that I knew had a special fixture he used to do the job.
