Hey guys I got a B&M Megashifter for xmas for my camaro . I went and got some prices today on how much to have it put in and i got either $140 - $150. Is this too much or should i just TRY and put it in myself? (LIttle to no exp in this field)

I have 110% no exp in this field. Most people in my town charge about $60 an hour. Should I just pay for it and get it done?

yah i must also say do it on your own....it really isnt too bad just as long as you follow the instructions and dont try to rush it........i installed mine and love it.....
the megashifter is a ratchet shifter....what it does is that when you are drag racing and you want to shift through the gears....you bump the shifter up and it will only go up one gear at a time...which will make it so that you dont accidentally skip gears when shifting....even if you dont drag race i still say they look cool and are fun to just mess around with while driving

Just do it yourself and save that cash for future mods. Follow the instructions and take your time, it's the only way to get experienced!

On the B&M, when you drop it down into reverse, can you go back directly to park.....as if I backed into a parking spot every night. Or do you have to then put it down into drive and then back into park????
Sounds like a lot of work if it is the 2nd option...

Cool.....That seemed like a lot of work to have to go into reverse, then to drive, then to park..... IMO

It took some getting used to what you have to be in to go into park and stuff but i am happy with it, and now you dont even notice its there really you just get in and put it where you want it. I always get compliments on my shifter, just hate teh rubber boot i'm gonna make a leather one for it when i do the rest of my interior

I love my Mega Shifter too....I basically got it for looks though. It took awhile to install....you have to hack up alot of stuff, adjust a number of things...but once it's all said and done...it's nice. I made mine work with the factory shift cable though...so..I had to do alot of hacking.

I too have the Mega Shifter, and love it. I bought one of the first ones when they were first produced for 3rd gens. Mine is one of the original that is for 3 speed only, the 3 or 4 speed came later. As for the install, take your time follow the instructions and you'll have no problems. They are fun to drive with and safer. I've done the over shoot and hit reverse on a car, no fun and expensive. My shifter is 10 years or so old. Now I'm putting in a 700R4 and I have to get a new Mega Shifter for the 4 speed. Go for it and have fun..
