New Dart Iron Eagle Platinum heads!!!!
Does anyone know anything about the new Dart heads that Summit is going to be carring. It says thay have 10% more flow over the other dart Iron eagles and have a 5-angle valve job.
Check them out here:Dart Iron Eagle Platinum Cylinder Heads SBC

They seem nice so far. flow alot more than regular Iron eagles and pretty cheap too. 500 each aint bad but for alittle more you could get some aluminum heads.
I guess they would work great on pretty stout small blocks but would need corvette egr to make them legal.

Great link for flow data and most every cylinder head. Shows comparison of iron eagle 230 to the 230 platinum and its impressive

Oh yeah, nice link. Just trying to figure out how they get there hp #'s. Is the hp # what the head would support? Or were these heads put on a specific motor and dynoed?

Yes on the HP. What they do is take the intake flow and multiply with a constant that is about 2.05. I don't remember the number exactly. So if you had a head that flowed 250 cfm at .500 lift take the 250 times 2.05 and you come up with 512.5 HP. That is theory of course but gives and indication to compare heads. It is thought that the number around .400 lift is the one to compare with other heads. Allen

CFM * 2 * Volumetric Efficiency
So if your heads flow 240CFM * 2 = 480HP, but most engines are only 80-85% volumetrically efficient, so 480 * .8 = 384HP, and thats a very generic number, not taking into account midrange flow numbers, not just .5 flow.

found someone's flowbench of the 215 platinum heads vs motown 220s, this was with 2.08 valve and 4.155 bore
on 2.02 valves and 4.03 bore, numbers generally reduced 5%
the platinums are abit better than the old eagles even with bowl blends. fine out of the box head, but like most all manufacturers, the heads dont quite flow as much as advertised. they do have alot to be gained in porting tho

I don't know about the new ones but I have a set of Aluminum Dart Pro 1 215's. They are advertised to flow 276 out of the box...they flowed 264. They can gain alot w/ a nice port job tho. I just had mine ported and they now flow 297/215...they are not max ported by any means either. The mid lift numbers are also impressive, especially since I got them and had them ported for less than AFR's or Trick Flow's and they flow better too. If I were you guys I would not pay that much for an Iron head, when You can get the Aluminum ones for the same price. If you plan on running them outta the box...I would spend alittle more and get a better flowing head. I am selling mine, so if you guys Know anybody send them my way. lol
