Aftermarket swaybars - How much of an improvement over stock??

How much of an improvement over stock can be expected when installing aftermarket swaybars? What sizes will offer the greatest benifits?

Depends on what you have now.Mine came with the big factory bars and all the manufacturers tell me that I wouldn't gain anything by going to aftermarket. If you have the F41 suspension (1LE even better), don't bother changing them.

Yeah, my 86 Sports Coupe had the F41 swaybar package and we changed it to the Z28 pack. Minimal differences. You would notice it on a wide open race course but not much in daily driving.

Aftermarket swaybars are meant for cars with no swaybars, or ones that are damaged.

The largest stock sway bars are those used in the FE2 cars. Stock suspensions start with FE1 at the base end, F41 in the middle, and FE2 at the top. From what I've seen the F41 and FE2 share the same rear sway bar but the front is larger on the FE2 cars. The 1LE cars and late WS6 cars have the largest front sway bars at 36mm. They run as low as $5 each in the junkyards if you can score a deal. Aftermarket bars may be a little stiffer but they'll be heavier also. Stick with stock pieces for the best of everything.
