So i walk up to the shop this morning and there a a strange truck there, hmm, not one of the usual delivery trucks, but its early and im underslept and not thinkin, so i just walk by, go inside and my boss hands me a bill for 97.51 for shippin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE **** I SAID!!!!!! I almost ripped the delivery guys head off, he didnt know **** so i called up his boss and he said u dont pay, hood dont stay, so i paid and called up APM and talked to MIssy, shes sending me a check for the ammount i paid for it, and also the missin grills and decals for my hood.

But really, wtf man, how can so much **** go wrong with my ****ing order, first, they never got it, then they didnt send me grills and decals, now i have to pay a 100 bucks more just to keep the ****ing hood i already paid 140 for shippin for, i donno man, i think this is the last time im ordering anything from APM, but ill give them a shot to make this purchase right, but all in all, the hood is nice, measures out square needs minor body work to be perfect and some cleanup, but all in all, im pleased with the hood, but not with the service!!!!!

I donno, my rant i guess....

as a design question id like to ask some other people that already received there hood and have it on, do the front corners go to a point on your hood or do they round, because mine round off and they do not match the natural body style. the headlight bucket corners go to a point and the stock hood does too but my Ram air hood's corners are rounded. wtf the nick then the corners, that isnt right. what it is, is that they messed up on making it and rouned the corners a little bit to hide the flaw. im going to get an estimate on fixing the 2 problems and e-mail them with it.

as you guys know i dont check this thread or even this message board every day so this morning i was stunned.....

so im sitting at the station this morning studing & my cell phone rings & i answer it & its the truck driver of the hood,he proceeds to tell me that i owe him a check for $89.34 & i said "WHAT?!" & he said yeah so i said ok...wrote him the check & he got it off the truck & helped me carry it in the fire dept,we check it over & everything is fine & dandy with it,so i tell him that i didnt mean to yell at him & all that & he said its ok...

when i get back home here,i was on the phone to APM...i told Missy the problem & she said that they have been having that problem & she did apoligize & said she would get a refund check out to me....

while i had her on the phone i asked her about my grills & decals & she said that they come from FL & the hood comes from TX-strange if ya ask me! anyway i should be getting them in about 5-6 days...

i do have to say im not sure i like dealing with this company!

itll be a while before i can have my hood put on & even painted,so id just like to say thanks so much for everyone that was in on this purchase & thanks a million to Jason for getting us together :hail: good luck to everyone with their cars & hoods & projects!! :hail:

Yours looks better than mine right now. At least you have a rear end and gas tank in yours. I can't even move mine around the garage without 2 jacks and dollies.

I would love to see some pics if anyone has finished product also!!

i know for a fact its lighter than my stock one, my old hood shocks wont hold up the stock hood but they'll hold this one up, barely. lol but as for fitting it fit pretty good, i had to oblong one of the hood hinge holes. other than that its fine, but if you do buy one id say from some other company,or have them ship it a different way because R&L carriers suck!!! bigtime. but anyways i got a few compliments even when it isnt painted. lol well i cant wait to see everyone else's pics painted or not.:lala:

no problem bud, i at least figured you put this together, got us all $75 off its the least i could do.

now all thats left to do is get paint on the hood. I'm decent with a paint gun, but i just spent all that money i'm afraid to use it! did you all read the sticky for prepping your hoods?

btw this is after 5 minutes of sanding two days ago

87, i think you should sand your hood a little more, that glare i saw on there isnt good=paint peeling. i mean itll probably be alright maybe it was just the lighting....anyways i think everyones corners were rounded i think i posted that little bit back.

that was before i sanded it those pictures where the sanding block ws there to get off the glue spots or whatever it was that was on it. that was 400 grit to get it off i started with 320 to 400 now i have to lay a coat of primer, and sand some more with 400, lay another coat and go 400 wet then one more coat and go 600 wet. i have about 3 hours into the hood. an hour on the bottom and 2 on top.

did you block sand the entire thing or did you hand sand the curves?

and by the way those pics were about 25 minutes after receiving the hood.

did you take your old hood off the hinges? i have another set of hinges that i bolted to the hood. cause i may be going back to the stock hood cause i like this hood and it may go on my project car.

whats the easiest route ya think?

id hand sand the curves of it, because id ont see how youd block down that many curves but anyways, you can do what you want with the hinges. whatever you think is the easiest.

i like it, but that wing on top kinda freaks me out. lol i hope you didnt have to pass the stones.... if you did man i feel your pain.

I have a curved block that i'm going to use for the curves. It may not be the right curve though, so i might just hand sand it. what did you sand it with as far as grit wet/dry?

Yep....had the pleasure of passing a couple of biggies!!

Didn't use anything....yet....just put a coat of 3M Polish on it....slapped some decals for the time being. Whole thing needs a repaint....but I'll wait on that till next summer when I can do it right. That wing will go....but I have fun "off road" with the intermittent white LED's I installed.....looks like a TomCat coming around for it's final approach. Also, it's easy to track me on those hillclimbs. As you might see, my hood corners are not rounded, like my feeble brain!:lala:

The quality of this mold SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To say the least about it, the top of the hood was full of valleys and hills, it took a good 2 3 hours prep to get it to where i want it, the curves werent even smooth, the lips were all different thicknesses and i had to file them down.

I donno if its just me or cuz i work at a body shop and have an eye for these things and they annoy the **** outta me or is everyones hood like this, with a few ****ups here and there....

Did you sand it yet, i didnt see them with a visual inspection when i got it either, once it set it up and ran my hand over it, it was bad, but i hit it with a block with some 220 grit on it and it came out pretty ****in good, so now i will block sand the primer also, just to make sure, you know...

did anyone else recieve ANOTHER invoice from R&L Carriers about the price that we owed them???

well the fire department did & they brought it up at the meeting about the bill & of course i had to tell them.they got their money when the hood was delivered & they dont need to be sending invoices that i owe them more money! whats p***ing me off even more is that the invoice DOESNT even have my name on it like i specifically told them to put it on there.

R & L CARRIERS NEEDS TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER!! (i hope anyone else that is planning on buying stuff from APM requests that they dont use R & L Carriers!)

Just got my decals, vents and airbox in today! The box could be better but I have to do some work to it to be really happy with it. Don't know when the hood will be here. Does anyone have a pic of the backside of the hood near the window? Just want to know if it is open like others I've seen. Thanks guys (and gal).Later,b-man.
