info on this intake please

sry if this should not have been posted in the section.
does anyone know of the holley contender intake manifold??
my car came with this intake and i cant find info on the holley site. i want to know if it is anygood or should i look into a new one. also there must have been a hole or crack in it as some point because there is a metal plate with a screw one each side and some black glue/sealer on buttom to prevent leaking i guess (pic below...i drew in what rest is like, thats the best pic i have that shows it sry) anyway have this done will it effect the performance of the intake?

sry if this should not have been posted in the section.

That is an EGR block off plate, if your car was set up to be emissions legal there would be a EGR valve there.

i dont think thats the EGR block off plate becuz my edelbrock has the same plate over the same spot and thats for a heat choke. the egr position would be right around where numbers 6 and 8 runners are.

Car: projects.......
The hole can be used for either an EGR or for a choke stove. - The holley Contender is a good intake. Thre are two models, same as Performer and Performer RPM, its the difference in hieght and power band. If yours is spreadbore and squarebore patterned, then its basically the same as a Performer, just w/ Holley's designing. If its square bore only, then its basically a Performer RPM. - Look up a Holley Street Dominator intake. Same intake, just a new name.

later, justin...

yeah i looked up the Street Dominator and it has the holes ONLY for the heat choke. it doesnt provide the holes for the EGR. if you look at any other intake with those same holes its not for the EGR, it will not bolt up.

"510-300-38
Idle-4800 rpm, Dual Plane, Square & Spreadbore Flange
Works equally well on the street or at the track thanks to its dual plane design that enhances fuel distribution and its raised plenum divider that improves torque. Accepts both spread bore type and Holley flange carbs. Features late model alternator and A/C bracket mounting provisions. No EGR.
Features:

Idle-5500 RPM power band.
Low rise/dual plane design.
No EGR provision.
Spread bore and square bore carburetor mounting flanges." that was right from Jegs in the discriptions.

i looked at abunch of other holley intakes and edelbrocks and all the holes for the Heatchoke are just for the heat choke, they say no provisions for the egr enless stated. so that plate on your intake is the same plate i have on my intake and its just for the heat choke.
