Accel Super Coil =Good part
I installed the Accel super coil a few days ago. I didn't expect any SOTP gains, but for 50 bucks, I figured why not?.
I put it on in about 25 mins. Would've taken 5 but messin with the rivets on the bracket is a pain. I have MUCH better top end(2000 and up)! I was definitely impressed. I am expecting an increase in gas mileage too. I will post those results as soon as I get them calculated.
I would recommend this to anyone. For the money,it can't be beat!

Right on Ryan!
This is an upgrade I'm thinking of too. But I have an integrated coil so it is a tad different.
Keep us up to date as to whether you start going through caps and rotors. I've heard this sometimes happens.

I agree.. I remember putting one on my '76 Datsun, and I definately noticed a bit more on the top end... as sad as it may sound, before the upgrade, I would start decelerating from 60mph on a slight incline with my pedal floored. But after the coil went it, I was actually able to keep it at 60mph.

I know a guy that has the coil-in-cap type and he is very happy with his too.
I'm thinking about getting a performance cap and rotor, but I don't know if they are really worth it.
Anyone have experience with this?

I remember that replacing the cap&rotor (ACCEL) was the first thing I ever did to my car when I knew NOTHING about cars. I did notice that the throttle response was a little crispier.. but then again, the previous cap and rotor was quite worn out.

I have the HEI SuperCoil (the one mounted in the distributor) and I noticed an immmediate improvement. A reccomended mod, although accessing the HEI on a TPI motor is a little difficult.
Good bang for the buck.

i recently replaced my cap and rotor with a performance one and noticed a difference too. i agree with age though, it could've just been that the other one was worn out badly.

This was one of the first things I did along with new Accel plugs, Accel 8mm wires and a Hypertech cap and rotor. A noticeable difference! I used the factory bracket by dremeling off the rivets and replacing with SS screws. Pix on my website.
