Anyone tried the Diamond Stripper Windage Tray from Milodon?

I was curious if anyone had used this windage tray, Milodon claims it's worth 10 horsepower or more.

10 HP on what engine? I hate it when companies do that. They say it added so much horse power but it was on some sort of monster big block. It looks like a nice piece though. You can really get crazy with the add ons with oil pans.
What are you using your camaro for? For instance what type of racing or street driving are you looking at?

I'm shooting for 500 hp with my Vortec/ Hot Cammed 350. I figured every bit will help and for 70 bucks it seems worth a try.
Maybe I'll try it with a crank scraper and do a before and after dyno run.

I wish I could help you out with the part # but the milodon oil pan I hae has a trap door, fits my 3rd gen like a stocker, has the diamond stripper in it already and a mild crank scraper on one side even

Mr. Dude I don't think you have seen the Car Craft article on porting Vortec heads and the results they got with a less aggressive cam than the Hot Cam. Never say never.

Okay lets just put it this way. If you've got lots of $$$ invested into your mill. Then anything that sapposed to help it is always a good idea.

I'm interested in one of these cool mildon or moroso pans too. I want to know how much power they're worth. I think they'd help more when you have more stroke, like me. This is because they scrape more oil from the pan.

ChevyTech84,

You will never see 500hp out of the hot cam and vortecs, unless you add a power adder. The most I've seen out of this cam in a 383 was 379rwhp on a vette with a stick. Of course he was running an LT-4 with and lt-4 intake and stage 3 GTP ported LT-4 heads. You may get about 460 if you have a port job done to the vortecs and you run a miniram. With any other tpi intake forget it.

exactly. that cam is a good cam, but its still not a extreme cam.

even with a 400 with conversion roller lifters, and great heads, its just not enough to make 500...

now if you machine the heads to accept more lift and some better springs, you can put a hotter roller cam in there, and assuming you're running a 350 or larger bore motor, you have a good chance of getting near there at the flywheel and still remain streetable.

you sound like you're building a good motor..... but its probly not going to reach the 400hp mark.... to get it there, it probly needs some tweaking so everythings JUST right..

I think I will easily be at 425 at the crank

Super ram
AFR 195's - very ported and polished
LT4 hot cam
1.6 RR's
355
1 5/8 headers - to keep the torque

I am expecting 350hp at the rear wheels. I am REALLY upgrading the suspension and drive train including a 1le driveshaft, etc...

I apologize for this being off-topic, but I have not had any contact with James for two weeks as he has not returned my e-mails.

When did you e-mail me? It's not in my inbox (see below).

That's great that you already shipped. Can I have specifics, such as when it was shipped and a tracking number.

I also have not received an e-mail from you at work.

Willie

First thing this is completely off topic and should of been kept off the boards. You have my number(s) and my email, as well as my address. Also if you are going to drag it out for everyone to see, let's explain something. The deal was for vette heads and ZZ4 springs, shims, etc... I already sent you the heads which you have, at a higher than we originaly agreed upon shipping cost. Which is fine, I had no problem with that. However, you knew that I had to pick them up from the guys building my engine, which I explained "missplaced" them and as for this whole two weeks thing... The last email you received from me was probably wednesday of last week? This is due to the fact that I only have email at work. Due to changing the phone number at my home, so needing to change DSL... I mean honestly, you make it sound so bad. If I were really trying to "stiff" you as it were why would I of sent the heads out to you? I would of kept everything I don't work like that. I do apologize for the length of time that it has taken me to ge the springs and valves, however the machine shop is in Anaheim and I am in huntington beach, I work monday through friday 9 - 6. They are open 8:30- 5:30, as you can see my dilemma. The only time I have to pick up the parts is on Saturdays.

Now that we have that cleared up, email or PM me from now on. The boards is not where this needs to be taken care of. I would appreciate our last three posts being deleted from here and we actually get this taken care of, instead of pulling this kind of thing.

Is this the pan that you were looking at? I's the one I am picking up for my engine.

no mine is some sort of milodon, it is the exact same gold one pictured on the cover of the TPIS catalog. I can tell by the little "welded" bumps along the underside of the pan rail in the picture.

I put one of those Milodon trays in a 350 for my Monte Carlo. Dont know if it got me 10 HP or not. But I can tell you it need to be "tweaked" to fit. The holes in the tray would not line up with the studs in the main caps. I had to elongate them to make it work. No instructions come with the package either. Called Milodon for a few tips. Nice guys on the phone. But they said to get the tray to about 1/8 of an inch from the crank. Adjusted it all the way down on the studs and its not even close to the crank. Used it anyway since it was paid for. But if I did it again I think I would get the pan(Milodon or Moroso) with the built in windage tray. Less hassle and cheaper to boot. HTH.
