Just to add fuel the fire I'm perfectly happy with the two sets of TES headers that I have, one on my old 86 IROC and one on my 87Z.

Like I mentioned earlier, there is a mag comparo article that supposedly showed that the TES headers made more power than the 1 5/8 SLP headers. But the guy who was going to post a scan of it disappeared from the boards... Even if the 1 5/8 SLPs make more power they're not worth the nearly double the price. At least not to me anyway...

I saw a pair of TES headers. The craftsmanship looked kinda shoddy. Don't know how they actually perform though. I have set of Hookers that I am very happy with. Good headers, good price.

The SLP headers are not double the price of the Edelbrocks. I have had both SLP and Edelbrock. NEITHER headers are exactly great quality.

i havent looked but i know in past issues they have shown 69 camaros with the drivers seat on the right hehe. someone thought it was a rare european camaro, but it was really just a mis-developed pic. lol. let's not knock every flaw in the mag, we have to give props where props are due and the fact is they called our cars what we have known all along, the best value for their money. their are a lot of similar issues like this one, and they are always putting irocs in their reader's rides section. i dont know about you guys, but i get sick of seeing: 69 camaro, 70 chevelle, 69 camaro, 66 malibu, 69 camaro, and so forth, and as long as they continue to bring me my third gens, i will buy their mags. period.

Kevin...You have a good setup, you wouldnt be running the times in your signature,if you didnt. IM not saying that Edelbrock headers are going to make more power than 1 3/4 SLPs. I really dont care to debate that any further. The SLPs will flow more and make more topend power. Even though that doesnt tell the whole story. Its your car and you can run whatever you want, thats none of my concern. The thing is you keep bashing the Edelbrocks, and I know them to be a good header system. Ive used a few different brands over the years and they really are a good street header system for these cars.

Except for the cheap paper head flange gaskets they come with. Ive had zero problems with them.

I keep bashing them because I think they are shoddy headers. They used to be 1 1/2" tubes and 1 5/8" tubes. They claimed that made more power and torque. If so, why did they "fix" them to be all 1 5/8" now?? Also, their y-pipe design is poor, with both tubes squished together into one. Lastly on the passenger side the #2 tube goes right across the top, almost killing spark plug access, which is already limited on that side. They weld inside the port causing them to be even smaller, and the AIR tubes stick into the ports quite a ways as well. I just took some pics of Edelbrock and SLP headers side by side that I am posting in the Exhaust forum now.

You may like them, but I have not heard one person who switched from Edelbrock's to SLP's and then complained they like the Edelbrock's better. I think they're worth the extra cost, and with the GP going on now, they're not as expensive.

I think the reason all of the mags seem to use Edelbrock headers for so many of their build ups has absolutely nothing to do with whether they are any good or not. I'm sure the mags get the headers and intake manifolds free for "promotional considerations." How many build ups have you seen in any mag that use something other than Edelbrock headers and intake manifolds?

Wow, are you clueless. Edelbrock headers suck. They may be a good match for a stock 350, but for anything making power, they are a restriction. Larger engines making more power will expel more hot exhaust. That hot exhaust takes up space. It needs to go somewhere. It'll be a lot happier in a large tube than in a small one. SLP 1 3/4" headers are great. I gained 37 TQ and 35 HP at the rear wheels when I installed mine.</font>
that's exactly what I was thinking

I was wondering why everything was backwards on that page and why didnt they put Tom Pansey's camaro in color. That paint job is the best I've seen black and white just dose'nt do it justice.
