aftermarket trans. pan?

What aftermarket transmission pan is everybody running? I'd like to get a nice aluminum pan with a drain plug.

Take a look at your steel pan and look for dents and scrape marks. If you have them, do not buy a Cast Aluminum pan. Reason: The aluminum does not bend but cracks, and I will let you think what the reults will be. And it is not nice.

I just plugged in my new tranny with a Derale pan yesterday. It looks to sit a bit low. On the bench it measured 2 inches deaper then the stock pan. Derale states that it provides an additional 2qt capacity. I am also now running a Vigilante 9.5 inch converter which actually uses 1qt or so less fluid then the stock converter, this fact is the main reason I am running a deep pan.

I see what you're saying. Mine doesn't have any scrapes or dents, but with a deeper pan... and maybe some lowering springs in the future...

Any scrapping or denting that may occur will be from speed bumps, steep drives ways, pot holes, etc.. Its not like the pan will be hanging so low normal driving or racing will cause it to scrape. It really depends on what environment your vehicle spends most of its time. My car will spend most of its time in the garage and of course drag strip time, it is not my daily driver, but again the pan does sit noticeably lower even with my ES poly trans mount.

Car: Trans am
just tap and thread the stock one. to get more fluid couldnt you put a trans cooler in and then that makes it hold like 1 or 2 more quarts, right.

If I could do it again, I would look for an aluminum pan that does not have any extra capacity. I currently have the TCI deep tranny pan and I had to learn how to drive over things again. This thing sits freakin LOOOOW! I probaby have 4 inches of room below the tans pan and the ground. I once saw an aluminum pan that had cooling fins and was the stock capacity. I want to say it was B&M but I realy don't remember.
