Best heads for under $1100
My mods are listed below. Barring any intake compatability problems (i.e. Vortec heads on TPI manifold), what are some really good heads I can put on my car? Trick Flow? Vortec? Dart? Keep in mind that Vortecs are really cheap and I'm on a budget. I know that some heads might outflow others but what is going to be the best bang for the buck?

No question in my mind. The 195 Canfields.
www.canfieldheads.com
Jegs had them on sale for 499.99 each. My person experience has shown these heads will provide very similar power levels as the more expensive AFR heads.

I would look seriously at the Hi-perf Vortecs sold from Scoggin Dickey with springs and a little clearancing that will allow them to handle .550ish max lift. They run around $600 and would make some pretty good power for that little of money.
You're going to want to put on a better aftermarket intake manifold when you do the heads no matter which set you choose. So that kinda removes the downside to the Vortec heads (assuming the stupid Vortec TPI manifold is ever coming out...)

The Trick Flows are probably the best, you can get a set in Summit for less than $1000, and they flow right up there with the AFRs.

Port a set of Vortec's, give them a 5 angle valve job, increase the chamber from 64cc to 65cc, add screw-in-studs, add some 1.5" roller rockers, and they turn out to be EXCELLENT heads!

Iroc N Roll, as far as the heads I'd have to agree with the modified Vortec's if you could get a TPI intake for it. Since you can't right now, I'd say Trick Flow heads. I haven't seen any test on the canfields to know how they stack up. How do you like the Hurst Dual Gate? Any Problems?

The shifter is ok. Installation kinda sucked. The wires for the neutral safety switch were too short for the new base. I had to take apart the dash to go in and give the wires some slack. Other than that it wasn't so bad. It looks really cool and shifts pretty nice. I haven't had any problems with it. I can't say that it has helped performance any but at least its fun

Canfield flow numbers are:
195cc ports
&
220cc ports
The E/I ratio is okay for carbureted motors(low 70's), but the exhaust ports could definitely use some work for port-injected mills. Then again, at these prices whose to complain?
