How much does a complete TPIS Mini-Ram cost?

I checked their web site but I guess you have to buy different stuff for it. What does one cost complete?

With the cost of the MiniRam itself ($895), fuel rail ($355) and chip ($575), the total cost is $1875.

You may also need injectors unless your old ones are big enough.

The chip is not $575, it's more like $275 for a pocket programmer, tunercat w/ .tdf, and some flash PROMs. Spending $575 for the TPIS chip is assinine, their chips never run very well, even in basic combos.

edit, just thought i'd add that the cost of the burning equipment shouldn't count w/ the manifold cost anyway, once you are seriously modding your car (hell even if relatively stock), burning is the only way to tune.

I'm with Ed on this one. This is the reason (Miniram) that I got into eprom burning...to save myself the cost of the TPIS eprom. And Ed is also right that you can reuse it to your hearts content. Just for my basically Stock L98 I feel I have gotten my investment back in the cost of the programming just in the gas I am saving by invoking "Highway Mode".

Also, if you want to learn about eprom burning, you are better off to learn while you still have a basically stock engine. You can make your "mistakes" and still have your old Memcal/BIN as a backup.

Eprom burning is a lot easier than most people think it is. There is an initial learning curve, but you once you get over that "hump", its a snap. If an old fart like me can figure it out, anybody can.

Complete with fuel rails and Miniram = $1,250 + shipping.

The AFPR is prolly another $100 being it's god-awful expensive TPIS that we're talking about here.....

I talked to them about 2 months ago and that was the answer the rep gave me.

Not to mention:

Cam and valvetrain upgrades: $350+
Exhaust(if needed): $600+
Cylinder head upgrade
(if needed): $500 - $1500
Drivetrain upgrades: $800 or more
Suspension: sky's the limit
etc., etc.,....

Not trying to be a downer. I'd love to own a Miniram, it sounds like the ultimate way to go EFI on a SBC. But when I look at everything that needs to be done to realize the potential of this type of motor, well,...(shudder). If ya got the dough, definitely go for it, but use the experience of the folks on this site(especially Trax), so ya know everything you're gettin in for.

if you're converting from carburated induction you'll need the mini ram stand alone kit complete with everything, and it's $3750. I fyou already have TPI, then you'll just need the fuel rails, plenium, computer, and wiring harness.

Not true Iroc. If you already have TPI, all you need is intake, fuel rails and prom. The computer and harness all hooks up, just need an eprom to make it work. And if you take the time to learn how to burn an eprom , you save there too.

88Irocs comment is valid about needing all the other parts. A Miniram by itself is probably not a cost effective mod. But match it with the right heads and cam, and you can have a lot of fun.

yeah, by computer I meant prom, although I thought the mini-ram's harness was slightly different.
