Anyone have the Futura Ultra Z's

I am in the market for new rubber and I didnt want the price to kill me. So I went to Pepboys and looked at their high performance tires and it seems like for the Roc, these would be the tires? Does anyone have any experience with these and if so what was the overall opinion of the tire? Did they wear good, performance, ect... Thanks to all replies!

I had the V rated tires, and they were horrible. Always squeeking from a stop, and in the rain, they were down right dangerous. I put on a pair of Khumo 712's. VERY good price, 85 a piece. Less then the pepboys if i recall. Handling and traction improvement was tremendous. Driving in the rain became casual and non-life threatining again...

I had a set and they wore horribly and handled terribly, but if you just need to get by they are ok.

Im not a fan of Futuras or 712s. Dont even waste your $ on 712s if you see any driving time in snow. Traction wasnt a problem with the Futuras hell I even cut a 1.903 60ft on them. Slightly better all season traction and better looks make the Futuras a step ahead in my book but in the future neither will go on my car again.

I'll give Futura props for good tires....My friend had them on his 71 Chevelle SS and they wore awesome, even with burnouts and donuts...My other friend has them on his S-10 Xtreme and he run the living **** out of them and there is still awesome tread left... Good tires

Got the futura GLH's on my 86, not a bad tire, its a 440 treadwear so they have lasted very well for the last 2 years. The 91 has the Ultra-Z's, those are a 300 treadwear, cosiderably softer, handle well, and i have no complaints with them. Good bang for the buck.

i've had the ultra Z's on my last two trans ams, since i have no winter car, and they are very soft and do pretty well in rain, and are passable in snow (about as good as you can expect until you start paying $250 a tire)

the major complaint i've heard is that they do wear quickly, but my last set went 30k+ when i sold the car, and my new ones are up to 20k and have decent tread left.

they're not the greatest dry-performance tire, but i think for all-weather use they're a good tire at a good price.

and for anyone that didn't know, the futura is an OEM Cooper tire for pep boys, though i don't remember which cooper is the "ultra Z" equivalent...

I must have bought my Futura Z-rated tires at Pep Boys... let me check my receipt... 35,000 miles ago. They still have pretty good tread. But they are the worst tires when it's wet out. I hydro-plane above 35 with ease, whenever it rains. Not a good wet tire in my opinion but it does seem to last. Would not buy them again because I'd rather have a safer tire when it rains.
