ok I have heard about these car alarms that when the theif tryes to get into them it sends an electric current through the car and gives an audio alarm also. do these alarms exist or is it people just being liars?

i'd think it was bs. Think if a little kid in a parking lot ran up to his mom's van and stepped back into your car...i think you or maybe you and your car would be looking at battery and/or public endangerment...your car would become a safety hazard when parked, it would be kind of funny to see a smart *** little kid get the **** shocked out of him though

I think these actually do exist, but not in this country. In places like South Africa, where car theft is a HUGE problem (and lawsuits don't happen at the drop of a hat) I've heard of these systems, and others like them being used. I don't know if it's true or not though, nor do I know many details.

Yes, They do exist in Africa. It is also possible to have them shipped over I saw somewhere , but highly highly illegal. They also had a sweet one where as someone touched it flames shot out from all sides underneath the car. I think I saw it on a discovery channel special.

I want the flamethrower version - just sort of flick the pilot light on when I'm stuck at an intersection in Toronto on my to or from work - keep the crackheads away.

i dunno, if i found the flamethrower version i'd either try to get it to catch itself on fire or grab a bag of marshmallows and sit down on the car and eat smores all day

if i rememebr correctly.. one of the robocop movies had a thing where the theif gets in ur car, but when he tries taking it, soem ungodly amount of current goes through his body basically frying him to death. i also think the flamethrower 1 was in a robocop movie as well.

you have a computer controlled car and you want to run a high voltage charge through it...think on it.

Ive wanted to build such an alarm but have it go up in volts so the first touch of the car would feel like a static shock and so forth untill they stop touching the freakin caR!

So how exactly do you get spark? I was under the impression that was a very high voltage coming from a coil controlled by the ecm and the spark plugs are grounded to the head which is grouneded to the firewall.
Yes you can have issues but I say burn baby burn.

Well, do what you like, but ask yourself; why do you have to unhook your computer to do welding on cars?

i'd like to know how it's done, it HAS to be an isolated circuit or something....only thing i can think of is the frame is positive and the negative is all run through wires (bass ackwards how it should be) and that sounds like a cluster f*ck and alotta work too

You don't if you know how to ground correctly! It is a good idea, I'm not saying it isn't, but if you call up Mufflex and ask them if they unhook the battery to weld up exhaust they'll tell you no. Now if you're welding RIGHT next to the computers ground or you have the ground for the welder on the FAR end of the car not close to your location then yes, current will most likely destroy the computer. The idea is to give the welder the best ground through the least resistance. A longer path will have more resistance than a shorter one.

Viper used to make an alarm with a built in shock sensor that would zap someone if they were touching a metal body panel when the alarm goes off.

ummm

for some reason im thinking that the viper "shock sensor" your talking about is just the sensors that set your alarm off when someone breaks your window or kicks your car or whatever, if it shocked you, then why do they call it a sensor

hey i made a small prototype of my own to keep mice out from under my hood!

it works off the house's electricity though. i disconnect the battery (quick disc. make it fast) and hook it up to an electric fence box (the kind to keep horses and cattle in the back) then connect that to the cars chassis. shocks the heck outa anything that touches it, painted surfaces or no. (ask me how i know!)

works pretty good. havnt had a cat/mouse/dog/person bother the car yet. heh.
