my car is bouncing horribly and im getting new struts soon, I definitely wanna go with KYB is that a good idea? for the price on summit you cant beat it..what do u guys think?

From what all the talk was on this subject, I ordered a set of KYB struts from the US via my sister. She made a mistake and sent them surface mail so after 10 weeks I am still waiting for them. From what I heard thru other members it is worth the wait. Good value for the money from what I hear.

For the money, you really can not beat them. I like mine and they are still pretty good after about 15K miles of abuse. They work great IMO and you will not be spending like $100+ per strut either as compared to other brands. Don't get me wrong, those other brands like Bilstein, Koni, and Tokico are great, but a little much when compared to how well the KYBs worked for me. But then again my shocks were completely shot when they were replaced so that might have been the reason for such a great improvement. Bottom line, i like them. Good luck with your decision.

wow, tirerack has some nice prices for front and rear kybs the total is 138.00 and that includes shipping...summit wanted like 200 for both front and rear not including shipping, thanx alot guys!

I took advantage of yearone's christmas special and got a full set of kyb shocks and struts for $111 shipped. I ordered them for my 91 z28 that has over 100,000 on the original shocks and struts

how easy is it to change them?... i know i should ask in the suspension board... but i figured i could get an answer in this one...what tools do i need?

if you take the rotors off you save all kinds of time and hassle, it took me a half hour to do the second side, over double to do the first. I used an impact to get the strut bolts off, they are on tight.

My friend told me the rear shocks are a PITA, because you have to take apart the interior. Not looking forward to that

Shocks are easy! Just set the rear of the car on stands and put a jack under the rear diff to brace it. Take off wheels. Fold down rear seat and pull back rear hatch carpet. If you're carefull you don't have to remove the interior pieces. Remove foamy covers from over the shocks. Remove either top or bottom bolt, then vice-versa. Install is reverse of above.

IMO don't bother w/ removing the rotors when doing struts. Just turn the steering wheel and point the front wheels away from the side you are working on. Remove brake hose clip, then top or bottom nuts/bolts. Getting the top nut off is difficult w/o air tools.
Install is reverse of above.
