406, 6" rods, and oil pan clearance w/in

I got to the point of bolting my oil pan onto my 406 today and where I had to clearance the oil pan rail, it hits my oil pan. Ive tried knocking it in, and while that may work, I wonder if there was a better way to avoid riggin it to work this way.

Thanks

If it makes you feel any better I have the same problem. I bought a generic pan from summit and the part nearest the rear main hits the pan. It just does make contact.. I thought about using a ballpeen hammer on it also but im worried about oil leaks.

Are you using a stock 400 pan? I think that would have the extra clearance. But its nothing trick.

Shop said to beat on it.
Im going to get a propane torch, heat it, bang on it with a ball peen hammer.

Doesnt take much clearance. .060

I had the same problem with the 6 quart moroso pan I bought for my 400. I had to slightly dimple the pan right up near the rail...no big deal

I got the Moroso 7qt oil pan for 82-92 Camaros and it fit with no problems.
