SLP cold air kit
Has anyone used the SLP cold air induction kit for TPI T/A's ? I want to get one for my IROC, but need to know which one to get. I have a 350 TPI and have relocated the battery. Anyone got any advice on it. ( I am considering this because I broke my air snorkle, and spending 50 + bux on another chaps my ***, I want performance, not a fragile piece of plastic I have replaced twice).

I'm happy w/ mine, had it for over a year now. Performance-wise it does just about the same as any other CAI. I'm very happy w/ the contruction. It looks like it belongs in the engine bay w/ all the stock parts. The connecting tubes it comes w/ look stock, are sturdy, and have an airfoil inside. The only huge difference is the airbox itself, which is much bigger than the stock TA one I had, and attaches directly to the opening in the fender.
Mine is the single. Do you now have two spaces open since you moved your battery? If so, you have your choice between the dual or single setup. There are different ones for either SD or MAF, so be sure to order the appropriate one. Also, while you might see in the catalog 2 different MAF versions, I used a "85-88? Style" one on my '89 TA and saw no difference in the length of the tubes or the MAF bracket.

I know the battery question was directed at Omni, but I might be able to helpl w/ the charcoal canister Q...
I had to move my canister. There's a pretty good place right below the original location that's good for moving the canister (at least on birds) I took off some of the under-pieces like my gfx panel that hangs on the passenger fender, and stuck the canister atop a thin metal brace that's running diagonally from the radiator area to the outter fender. since its right below the original location, the tubes going to the canister can be fed through some of the holes in the "floor area".
By "floor area" I mean where either your battery or charcoal canister used to sit. Sorry I rambled a bit there, lemme know if you get the idea though

My battery is relocated to the rear in the compartment where the extra tire would be. Is their anything specific that would be needed for this to work on an IROC? I had heard that the only major specification would be that the battery would need to be relocated to the rear.

I got a maf setup in mine then coverted to map so thats why there is a 3 inch pipe were the maf use to be. It's an easy install after you move the battery.

I just made my own CAI. It was a hell of a lot cheaper and does the same job as the SLP one. I also had to move the cannister over a little but other than that it fits fine. Now I am in the process of making a heat sheld for the filter at work but the improvement the CAI brought over the stock one was noticable. My CAI only cost me $42 and 1 hour.

You dont have to convert I was just explaining the pipe. The maf is spose to be there. Here are 2 different places to get it from.

Here's my custom CAI.
A 45 degree PVC elbow, a 90 degree PVC elbow, and a piece of straight PVC cut to fit, a $25 filter from Autozone, and voila.
Of course, mine's speed density and I have no mass air flow sensor, so that makes things easier.

You need a 90* rubber plumbing tube (Lowes), 3in exhaust tubing (Autozone), 3in rubber connector (Lowes), cone filter with 3in connector opening (Autozone). You will need to trim the 90* rubber elbow a little bit but you connect that to the factory plastic piece that is directly connected to the TB. The rest of the stock air intake you take out. With the 90* elbow connect the exhaust tubing to this. Once again trimming is necessary. Next take your MAF and move the 45* angle around to make it so you still can connect the plug to it but also for the cone filter will fit under the hood and closest to the fender to get the cold air. You connect the MAF to the exhaust tubing using the 3in rubber connector. Now you will have to move your smog cannister over a little so the cone filter will fit. But after that you connect the cone filter to the MAF. So basically it goes stock plastic piece, then 90* elbow, exhaust tubing, 3in connector, MAF, then finally the cone filter. PM me if you have any questions. I choose not to use PVC tubing because it can become fatigued by the heat and crack. But the setup will look basically like FyreLance's.

does anyone sell and wire extention for the MAF? and couldnt u just leave the maf if the stock spot and make the cai from there? i dunno, but i would like to make myself one...
