Anyone who has changed the Ignition Advance Curve

Bought the Mr. Gasket Advance curve kit, and was wondering if it's even worth the money or effort to install it. Anyone who has done this, what kind of difference did this make, 1/4 times / traps, or butt dyno? Also, what kind of engine was this done to? Stock or a 12 second motor, things of that nature. Thanks.

First question I have to ask is..does your car still have the cc carb and computer?Or have you removed all that and went with a non cc carb (such as a Holley,Edelbrock, etc) and vacuum advance distributor? If your car is still stock you can't use the advance kit.

Definently a Non CC distributor on there. Took out the computer and the controlled elements a year ago.

Well in that case it is more than worthwhile to install it.Install it with 1 medium and 1 light spring to start out. Some people will tell you 1 heavy and 1 medium, but I had better/closer results with the medium/light mentioned combo.I would also recommend to look into an adjustable vacuum advance (Crane cams is one such unit) unit for your car,it really allows you to fine tune your timing.Driveability will improve 1,000 percent.Look in the tech section of this board for the "Tuning your HEI for performance"...very good article that explains all these modifications and tuning steps in detail.

I put the light springs in my car and it made a little difference on the butt dyno. I gained a little punch off the line but it didnt effect the top end at all because i didnt change the total timing just the rate at which all of the timing comes in. My car became more drivable with the wild cam. Before i would allways have to wind it up to make it go but it has better low end now so i can run in 4th around town insted of 3rd.
