Uniden GPSRD
I am looking for a new radar detector. I am going to get either the escort pasport 8500 or the Uniden GPSRD. I have heard and read nothing but good reviews about the pasport 8500. Although, I haven't heard anything about the GPSRD. I like how the GPSRD looks and all of the neat features, but i would like to know how good it actually is with dectecting radar. This is probably becuase it is a new detector from Uniden. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was wondering the same thing about the uniden. Lots of good features, but how does the detection work. I haven't met any one using it yet.
Like you said though, the escort 8500 has a good track record.

Well I have the Escort 8500. And my opinion of the Uniden is just that Junk. You can use the GPS feature if it works to tell you the location of where you just received your radar speeding ticket.
Check the reviews in Car & Driver on Radar Detectors the April or
May issues.

Ummm, I can't comment on either of those radar detectors, but my new, cheapie Uniden has saved my *** a lot already.
I've yet to get a ticket, and I was averaging one a month, sometimes more.
It's a nice feeling, passing a cop because your detector saw him first.
With signals I know are ahead (like those damn unmanned boards that display your speed, and threaten you), my Uniden warns me in plenty of time. Long before the radar source is in sight.
