I have ran PJ gear drives in my last two motors, and except for the damn noise..no complaints. The one in my old motor was a loud set and the one in my current motor is a quiet..I notice no difference in sound, they are loud and annoying after the first few weeks(cool factor wears off),but they are one of the most stable and accurate ways for the timing in a motor for the price, this is the only reason I chose them as opposed to a belt drive. If you don't mind a little extra noise I would say go with it.If you want my honest opinion though..get a quality double roller and avoid the gears.

They sound like your running a blower, just a little louder also. You could also create the sound if the bearings in your Alternator were going out. It's more annoying than anything. I second that opinion, get a double roller timing chain, especially if this is an everyday driver.
