Which Roller Rockers w/ TFS heads and stock valve covers?
Anyone have any recommendations?
I have TFS 23 degree heads, centerbolt pattern; Crane chromely pushrods, guideplates & would like to use the stock valve covers.
I currently have the crane gold 1.5's...but when installed with guideplates they won't fit under the stock valve covers. I purchased tall valve covers and the make it almost impossible to work on the upper end. The kicker is the superram. The runners push right up onto the valve covers and the valve covers are touching the the heater box.
Any help would be appreciated.
Marty

I would stick with the Crane gold series as they are a narrow body rocker. Any other full roller rocker and you'll have problems with them fitting under the valve covers.
I personally have the Comp Cams steel magnum rockers. These are nice and strong but you'll have bigger problems with clearance. I purchased a set of valve covers from Summit. It was a good deal but they told me they'd fit without alterations...wrong. I had to do plenty of cutting to get mine to fit...but they did finally fit. The other down side is that you have to drill your own holes for the PCV valve and the breather.
Here's the part number SUM-G3314 $109.95
They are slightly taller than stock but not as tall as the 'tall' valve covers.

I have an air leak at the runners and the mechanic is spreading dread about removing the headers, to get the valve covers off. I don't see a major problem myself.
I thought these crane rockers were supposed to fit under the stock valve covers with no problem. Alot of people said they would.

I have the CompCams Pro Magnum roller rockers under the stock 305 valve covers on my TF 23* heads, but I had to cut back the bracing underneath for them to fit. That's SOP for any roller rockers on any heads.
