20 inch rims could they work
Hi I am a huge fan of Chip Foose... I love his styling and that he always uses the larger rims. I wanted to know if I could get 20 inch rims to fit on my Firebird. 84 Bird by the way. Could someone please give me some info on this, or point me in the right direction?
Thanks Guys!

Re: 20 inch rims could they work
I'm not a fan of Chip Fooses work honestly. His work on Overhaulin is a bit better because it's what the car owner is supposed to want. I think that keeps him from going too crazy. I think he also goes too large on the wheels and tires. Enough with my opinions.
20's would be difficult to pull off on a third generation car. I don't think the wheel wells are large enough to handle them. With that said I've seen some fairly large wheel and tire combinations fit on these cars, but not nearly as large as what I've seen on newer vehicles. Most cars from the time period can't take them with out a lift kit or some serious changes to the wheel well area. That's why you see all those Buick's and Caprices from the 80's rolling on 20"+ wheels in the ghetto sitting more than 12" off the ground.

Here are 20's from a member of the forum.

Personally I like the looks of 17's, but props for the clean job he did with the 20's.

Those 20's look sick on that gta! I probably would do something like that if I could just buy em, throw em on the car and it had that stance. Don't really want to lower my car as it already seems like it's on the ground so I went with a 17x9.5

Re: 20 inch rims could they work
Please respond quickly if you can, I might buy these 20 inch wheels from a Cadillac. They are 600 bucks with 5 tires...... Boss Rims. He says they're 5x120mm so they should not have a problem with the lug pattern....... BUT.....
The thing is I won't be driving my Camaro to test fit them. I have an S 10 pickup. I hope the calipers will clear on the Camaro....... sure I will need backspacers...... but DO YOU KNOW WHETHER OR NOT IF THEY FIT THE FRONT OF MY 1994 S10, DOES THAT MEAN THEY WILL FIT THE IROC?

Re: 20 inch rims could they work
so I tested the fit on my S10, they fit.
Then, I found a 6 inch crack on one of the rims. They thought I wouldn't notice? Tried to scam me out of 6 hundred dollars. I stayed calm, that kid is going to run into the wrong person. I drove 89 miles one way to go buy them. Craigslist scammer.

How are you, im wanting to put 20s on my 1987 Formula as well. But I know with the rotors and spindles now on it will not work. What parts did or does you car have for it to work. And what sizes tires as well. If you don't mind. That is a very nice looking Pontiac.

Re: 20 inch rims could they work
20s work well if you get the stance just right and a good looking wheel
other than that I wouldn’t do 20s
19s is perfect tho

Re: 20 inch rims could they work
Nothing special. It's a set of stock spindles with a j56 brake upgrade using 1le rotors turned into hubs. Wheels are off the shelf ar. They fit just fine. No spacers or anything. They only look ok on gfx cars. I wouldn't run anything over 19s on non gfx cars.
