What's up guys? I just got my Iroc a few months ago and it is a BIG work in progress. The car is pretty nice, but they half-assed the paint when they had it painted, overspray everywhere. Here is whats going to happen to it in the future..
Plans-
-Satin Black paint with gloss black iroc emblems/stripes
-Rebuilding the 350tpi it has, shootin for 400hp and 450 ft/lbs of tq
-Red leather 4th gen seats
-either z06 wheels or coys, grey inside chrome lip
*Like my idea? Don't? Let me know either way? ha

Nice looking car! As far as what you have planned for it, it sounds great to me other than the rims. Not that I don't like any of the rims you listed, but I've always been a big fan of the iroc wheels. Its your cash and your car though, so do what you want to it and post the pics! I can't wait to see them.

Re: New 89 Iroc Owner *Now build thread*
Well I had some trouble at the drag strip which led to me getting mad at the car. I was mad enough that when I got home I stripped the interior completely, started pulling the motor, and I ordered my new e-zcool insulation stuff today. It has been an interesting week. haha I will get some pictures up tonight. And any help is more than welcome. This is my first build, I'm 18 years old and in college so I work on it when I can.

nice looking car and truck. i miss my 1987 C10 long bed. it was my first truck and i wish i never let my dad sell it.
the paint on the z28 looks great in the pics, although my sport coupe looks great in pics. so i know that pictures dont tell the whole story.

cool what product are you using i have a stripped down foxbody mustang in my driveway that i plan on working on one day. thinking about using something under the carpet other than dynomat because of price

Re: New 89 Iroc Owner *Now build thread*
I have been using this --> http://www.lobucrod.com/index.html
It is working great and is cheap compared to dynamat. I spent $120(shipping included) to get 3 rolls of it (WWhat you see in the pictures is most of one roll). I called and talked to the guy selling it and he said that would be plenty to do the whole inside of the car, floor ceiling, and all. It goes on easy, just make sure you have razor blades handy. Good luck with your project! Let me know if you have any more questions about this stuff.

Finally got the engine/trans pulled this weekend! And I'll try to get my carpet in this week. This is going faster than I thought. Now to figure out what direction I should go in with my motor. Remote mount turbo maybe? Nitrous? All motor? So many choices haha.

Their not dry and the glare makes the color look off but I am amazed at how well this stuff works. I bought some just to tinker but I think I will use this for all my interior plastics if it finishes well.

Re: New 89 Iroc Owner *Now build thread*
Well I have got a big surprise. I just bought a 2000 Trans Am WS6. So now i will be swapping the Ls1 and possibly the T56 out of it into my car. Along with that I'll be using the black leather interior out of it and parting the rest out. Well maybe not the wheels haha. It came with some bolt ons. It has a bbk ssi intake manifold, volant cai, and a bbk 85mm tb, oh and a full magnaflow exhaust system. I have all the original stuff to, it only has 72k on it. The owner wrecked it the other day and didn't have full coverage, poor guy. But here are some crappy pics I took tonight. If anyone is inerested in anything on it feel free to let me know as I am going to part it out soon.

Re: New 89 Iroc Owner *Now build thread*
PM'ed
And guys I will be parting out the ws6 when I get done with it. So if you guys need anything off it feel free to let me know and I'll pm you a price if I'm selling it. I know im keeping the seats, seatbelts, wheels, rear-end, and engine. I am selling the 6 speed manual trans, the factory ls1 intake, the volant cai, the front and rear bumper covers, the hatch, the tail lights, fog lights, and all the interior trim/carpet/dash possibly.

Re: New 89 Iroc Owner *Now build thread*
Well it has been a while but some good progress has been made. We got the ls1 pulled and sold most of the car before scrapping it. I paid $3000 for it. Sold the t56 for $1600, Front bumper/fenders/hood for $450, magnaflow exhaust for $450, carpet for $40, tail lights steering wheels and window switches for $330, my tpi and 700r for $450, console lid for $50, and tons of other small items I dont remember. Overall I made about $1000 profit, or $4,000 total, but I also got a ~70k mile ls1 w/ bbk intake an throttle body, posi rear end, alum driveshaft, leather interior, and a nice set of wheels/tires. So I came out pretty good lol. Oh and I got $120 for the convertors and $175 for the stripped car at the junkyard! I got some other stuff to sell hopefully.
We havn't had time to get alot done on the iroc lately, but we do have the ls1 out and the hawks motor mounts. So it won't be much longer before we set it in the car. We pressure washed the engine bay to get the major stuff out today, I'll be cleaning the small stuff tomorrow. I still have to purchase a tranny though. Here is my list of things to do to have it driving by spring time.
-Buy a 4l60e, get it built w/ shift kit..
-figure out the wiring situation and purchase one
-buy fuel pump, install it in tank, put it back under the car
-buy electric to mechanical speedo box, install it
-notch k-member for ls1 ac
-purchase things like ac lines and fuel lines for the swap
Got quite a bit of stuff to do but I think we can get it done in time for the first warm day of this year. Haha.

Let me know if you want one with anything on it, I will cut forum members a good deal! (Shameless plug lol)
Haha.
Had a small accident in my dd while the roads were icy and I was overconfident as usual haha, no worries though as it popped right back into place.
Decided to pick up another hobby, although unlike cars I'm hoping I can make money with this one, vinyl decals/signs/banners/everything else lol.
Here are some of my first cuts.

Don't? Let me know either way? ha

The car's coming along awesome man. I got a lot of my parts the same way as you. Buy a junk car that has the parts you want to keep, part out the rest, scrap or sell the shell and you've got all your parts for free. Like you, I wind up making more money on parting it out than spent. . Can't wait to see your progress.

Looks good man! Excited to see progress.
What were you using to paint that plastic again? It was looking good.

Beleive me I would have loved too, but I had to pay my dad back because he loaned me some money to buy the trans am. That was the most logical way to do it, unfortunately.
