Muffler Delete Pipe

Alright. So i have an 89 Camaro V6 MFI and i cut my cat off because i was bored and don't have emissions here in Illinois. Then i had the muffler shop put in a piece of straight pipe for me. It got about 75% louder and cackles and really sounds cool. But im not satisfied. Yes its a V6 but i can't afford another car and i love my camaro, so in order to make it more enjoyable to drive i want it too be as loud as i can get it. My question is, does anybody know where i can get a muffler delete pipe? Or should i make one in welding class? If i made it, it wouldnt be bent, it would be pipe fittings. And has anybody done this? I want to keep the dual exits. thanks.

Re: Muffler Delete Pipe

I would not delete the muffler. The reason is even though you have no emissions in your state, you will be breaking a sound ordinance. If you really want it to be louder, change the muffler out to a Dynomax, or throw in a glasspack, and make a Y pipe for the dual tips out of two bends you can get out of the auto parts store. Cut them in half at one side, so it turns away from the cut, then weld them together so it makes a T. Put the glasspack in the bit of pipe near the driveshaft. From the T, use the bends to put the tips back where you want them, and be done. it will be loud, not at all quiet. Just be careful about the cops, they WILL pull you over just for being loud.

Re: Muffler Delete Pipe

with no cat and no muffler it will not sound good at all and will accually make the car slower and may give you engine codes because the O2 sensor may not be able to read the exhaust will be flowing too fast by the sensor giving it a bad reading .

Put the cat back on and keep the muffler on and look into an electric cutout after the headers or y-pipe.

Re: Muffler Delete Pipe

Just make one.
It will be annoyingly loud. Most people will think it sounds like crap. Too each his own.
Don't worry about the O2. It'll be fine.
There are noise ordinances. I had a buddy get pulled over because his rustang was too loud.
I have to baby my car whenever cops are around and I have 2 mufflers. I also live in Illinois.

Re: Muffler Delete Pipe

You need a muffler no back pressure means your losing what little torque you have. Why not swap in a v8 or buy a v8 car?

Re: Muffler Delete Pipe

Why on earth would you even want to do this? Loud does not equal power or faster! The whole concept is wrong!!!!

Re: Muffler Delete Pipe

dont care about power or faster. i just cut my muffler off. again. boredom. and it sounded good at idle but like a demo car when i was on the gas and it was so loud it wasn't even funny. so i threw a glasspack on the end just to calm it down. apparently it sounds "like a really badass tuner". but i hate it. and if you do alot of highway driving it will really get on your nerves. but i don't care. you guys can call me a dumbass or tell me i'm going to get pulled over...cool. that's not what i asked.

One of the first few things I did to my car was this. Back when I had the old LG4 I gutted the cat and cut the muffler out. I used pipe fittings from Tractor Supply to make a custom muffler delete pipe. It was loud and sounded like a tractor. I loved it at the time and looking back I just laugh. I wish I could find the pictures of it.

I run sprint car mufflers off my dirt race car headers not only does it tame the sound down at 7000 rpm but most wonder why i have so much get up off the corner
