need hedman lt succes stories plzzz

well i've searched the forum for info concerning installing hedman lt's on a t5 equiped f-body and i'm really worried ... theres so many negatives related that i really need some nice success stories to convince me, i really want to go with lt's this time around ... on my long gone tbi i had hedman shorties hedman y no cat and 3" full flowmaster 80 series muff, the sound was very satisfying, this time i have a more performant engine and i want to go all the way with my exhaust, tru dual that is ... i know fittement is a pain, i dont care about some griding and banging, always comes along for the ride when jerking with exhausts, but the closeness of the clutch components, floor panel clearance and ground clearance worrys me especialy because i plan on lowering my t/a, so who ever has had installed hedman w/ a full tru dual on there lowered f-body succesfuly plz comment and give me some hope

p.s. i see many 3rd gen guys diss flowmaster.. just to let u know when i had my tbi i, no joke, would get compliments all the time, telling me i had an awsome souding 350... guys with mustangs ahahahah ford... but long live the mercury marauder, that reminds me just to let some of u guys know here in laval back in the day the police force had some rokcing 3rd gen camaros as highway chasers, i really would of love to be chased by them ... to bad

Allright, i had to go thru blood sweat and tears, but after 3 or 4 days of making me agrovated i had to hack the collector off, extend it back 4 inches, angle it down a little and to the inside to avoid the frame rail with the fuel and brake lines to clear, then i pretty much had to mangle the heat shield to make it work too, it was a nightmare, would i do it again??? i am told that the hooker LTs clear allot better. Here are some pics so hope this helps.

I AM GOING TO RAISE THIS BS FLAG B/C THAT GUYS HEADERS, OMG...
I CANT BELIEVE THAT SOME ONE WOULD DO THAT TO A SET OF HEADERS TO CLEAR EVERYTHING.

I AM SORRY BUD, I DONT THINK I WOULD EVER DO THAT TO A SET OF HEADERS, I BET EXHAUST FLOW SUFFERS HEAVILY WITH THAT KIND OF INSTALL. I DO GIVE YOU PROPS...
YOU INSTALLED THEM TO FIT PASSED A T5 TRANSMISSION. I AM NOT TRING TO START A FIGHT, I AM TRUE-LY SORRY.

I HAD HEADMAN HEADERS, I "HAD" 2 SETS OF THEM, I FOUND OUT REAL QUICK THEY JUST DONT CLEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE, ITS THE EASIEST SIDE TO CLEAR. JUNKYARD IS WHERE HEADMAN BELONGS.
I MADE A DEAL WITH JEGS, I GOT A SET OF DOUGS LT FOR $400.00 SHIPPED. INSTALLED THEM, THEY FIT, BUT THEY LEAKED HAD TO SEND THEM BACK TO THE MANUF... IT TOOK A MONTH BUT ALL
IS GOOD.

I've got an automatic, but the headers are the ceramic coated and they are great, no problems. Of course they went in with the motor so it wasn't an install with the motor in the car. I did spend some time with a die grinder smothing out the flow at the collectors and at the head flange.

thx zones89rs for ur help and those pics, well im conviced now, that longtubes are just to much of a problem, besides im just building a ballsy 305 no point going thru so much trouble when i can just install hedman standard lenght, theres always the possibily of modifying the hedman y-pipe to go tru dual, but in the end i will be just fine with with any aftermarket exhaust, has anyone ever modified the hedman y-pipy for a tru dual setup, that i beleive would be a much simpler exhaust mod ...

Would you think it'd be easier to install the Hedman Longtubes on the motor while the motor is out of the car or after the motor has been dropped in, going from under the car?

Unless you've already clearanced the K member, you're probably going to need to put them in after the engine is in.

Buy the super comps, they clear everything easy and are a much better quality header.
