LED Tail Lights

I was thinking what I could do for my next mod and I came up with the idea of sticking an array of LEDs to replace the bulbs in my tail lights. So I did some searching on the post and came across a post by TheGreatJ and I really like what he did with his. Heres a link to his car domain page to see what I'm talking about. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/332015/3 I tried contacting him, but he hasn't been on in forever, so I was wondering if any body else had done some close to what he did, and could give me some advice on how to get started? And maybe some tips or hints? Thanks later

I kind of have an idea of how he did, but I just wanting to get some help from some body whos done something like this before. I think he just wired up some LED arrays on PC board and connected it to the power supply.

Actually I punched about 1100 holes in the factory lenses with a drill press, and mounted the LEDs through the holes. That's the main reason I put the blackouts over them....the LEDs stuck through the lenses and I wanted a smooth surface instead of the little bumps of the individual LEDs.

I was doing a write-up on how I went about the whole thing, but I don't think I ever finished it. I'll attach what I have and you can figure out the rest.

FWIW I ran those lights for almost two years before the local fuzz started harassing me about the blackouts. I ended up pulling them off the car and sticking them in the shed to avoid paying fines, and then when I split up with my ex-wife they disappeared. I have every intention of doing another set to go on my new car, a white IROC with black accents.
