Grudge Matches for Spring Fling Thing
So far we've only got:
Pasky vs TexasLT1, StevenK*, Calereeves
TexasLT1 vs Pasky, 1Bad91Z
FBodTek vs StevenK*
Zap vs 1Bad91Z, Barry
Larry Dunlap vs TexasLT1
Rock90RS vs The World
IROCaholic vs The World
Tamatt27* vs Xtremeirocz, Pasky
Calereeves vs TexasLT1, Pasky, Xtremeirocz
Kevin89formula vs Larry Dunlap
*Making it to the track will be a grudge match in itself.
Some of this is redundant, but I'm trying to post as putting the initiator first...and the challenger second....

If both Mikeee and I get our cars back up and running right by then (and only if Mikeee gets the rearend fixed so he can get some bite), I think we have a return grudge match already made!!!
That is of course if Mikeee has recovered from his last "spanking"!

In an e-mail to HMP (have not heard back yet) I asked them if it was possible to have our own dial in bracket race just between the thirdgenners.
If that IS possible, how do U guys feel about that?
Would everybody want to do that , or just have some test-n-tune runs with the grudge matches and random pairings? If we do the bracket race thing, we can still have the grudge matches!!!

Add me to the list for Mike
As far as bracket racing, I think we should just do heads-up first, then maybe once everyone who wants to run that has gone, then do bracket racing to even it all out.

Yeah that does sound like a pretty kewl deal. Does that mean that we'd be limited to just thirdgenners?
Yeah, the Zap vs Mike is a grudge match that we'll all be looking forward too...again!

I guess you put me on the list just assuming I would run the track.
We will see. I need to figure out that tapping coming from my motor, and find a way to get my slicks on at the track, cause I don't feel like trailoring this time.

she ran pretty good on boost only, we havent really ran it on boost and gas at the track yet to see what it does but if we set up a match race it would get me motivated to put her 28x11.5 et's on so we can see what it does. i could probably talk her into making time to come out since i know the date so far in advance

Im not a big fan of bracket racing anyway. It somehow seems counterintuitive to see cars slamming on their brakes right before the line so they don't break out. Granted, its a good way for really different cars to race against each other, like an Expedition against a rail dragster. It all comes down to reaction time and consistency. But our cars are not that different. We could divide the racing trophies into two categories, V8 and V6, or maybe even three, 350, 305 and V6. I don't know if there are enough cars in the 305 and V6 catergories to warrant this. Maybe this would encourage cars in those categories to come out and race.

Now that everything is pretty much in place for the SPRING FLING THING, what are we gonna do about the awards as far as taking up a collection so we can upgrade the quality of awards given. Does everybody want to kick in a couple bucks so we can do this?
If we do not, and they come out of my pocket, they are gona be some very inexpensive ribbons.
If we do--depending on how much is donated-- the choices are:
( I'm just guessing on prices--based on past experiances--have not actually checked with trophy shops yet.)
Engraved Business card size plaques with an adhesive strip--probably a couple bucks each.
Engraved plaques (appox. 5X7" or larger) with a wood backing usually about 1/2" thick--probably about 7.00 to 10.00 each.
Engraved trophies-- probably 10.00 on up depending on size and how fancy U get.
Based on past similar situations most people prefer plaques rather trophies for several reasons. Cheaper--easier to keep up with--tropies have a tendency to not be as durable with time. Trophies usually end up on the shelf and never seen again by anybody other than yourselves...ETC
My initial thoughts are the business card size plaques. They are inexpensive, yet still appealing--easy to keep up with-- These are also very easy to display on/in yur car like on the dash board or under the hood like U do MFG. decals.
I am willing to do whatever U guys want---we just need to figure out what we want to do, and get the funds together in plenty of time to go to the trophy shop to GIT-R-DONE where it's not a last minute scramble.
I realize that many of U are probably thinking "I don't have a shot at any of the awards--why should I contribute?" Well, it's just part of being in an organization/club like we have here! If everybody kicks in 2.00 or 3.00 dollars, compared to what we all spend on our cars, it's no big deal!
Funds could be either mailed to me or we could do a "paypa"l deal. I am already set up at paypal with 2 different accounts. A list of all contributions would be published so all can see that all the funds went to to the awards.
Let me know!
Craig

See my post on the other thread about the trophies
Now that I think about it, some kind of organized pairings would be a good idea. When we were at HRP I wanted to race a lot of people, but I only raced two cars, Texas LTI and the guy that his wife just bought him a firebird. I don't know why, I guess people were busy racing each other or maybe CHICKEN. But seriously it would be a good idea, even for heads up racing to set up pairs in a draw with winners advancing to a final race. Maybe we could do one or two T&T runs, look at the times, then organize the pairings base on the times of the best T&T run. We could put the two fastest in two different halves of the draw, then next, and so on. I would be willing to help organize this. We could make a chart and then have the races. I think the cars are close enough together that a heads up format would be better.
Thinking about it, in my opinion there should be one trophy for the winner of this pairings competition, and then the ones for appearance. 60' time, best ET, are all part of racing that would contribute to winning the competition. And as everyone knows, in a race like that, anything can happen, the fastest car doesn't always win (Texas LTI might miss third gear, haha).

actually, thats why I'm glad we're doing 1/8th mile, as my 4th gear has screwed the pooch right now. hope to get it back in working order by the meet, but I've got other projects to finish up too

Yeah, Ive had the superram on there for about one year. Made a big difference, I hope I never have to take it off though, what a pain. Kevin, sounds good man, let's do it. I think you got more HP with the stroker motor but unless you get some slicks or drag radials it may be hard to put it to the ground. Should be a good race.

This should be interesting if we can keep up with all the results and post them after the meet!
