code 42... what is the problem?
i got a code 42 today, after i noticed some pretty bad hesitation while accelerating.
code 42:
42. Fault at electronic spark timing circuit OR
Fault at direct ignition system OR
Fault at fuel cutoff relay circuit
what exactly does that mean? bad coil? dist?
i have an msd 6al if that changes anything
thanks for any help

I'm having the same problem with my 88 iroc, but the problem is not persistent, I swaped the ignition coil, ESC module, ignition module, cap & rotor, ECU, and just when I was thinking I got rid of the problem, It showed up today again while driving on the boulevard. The bad hesitation stayed for like five minutes and then went away like nothing.
Hey trickster, do you have the page where it sais "intermittents in secction B?
My problem first started when I accelerated the car durring a launch, I think that I over reeved it, because since then I have been having this problem. The motor reeved up to 7k or something because I missed to switch gears on time. I know I damaged something with the acceleration, but I just don't know what it is
