New sponsor American Coating Specialties

Hi, I have been a member on the board for a couple years and am very happy that our shop American Coating Specialties is now a sponsor of Dirks site We are a coating shop and specialize in polished Ceramic metallic header coatings. We coat customer supplied new and used headers and sell new headers that have been coated in our shop. Due to our preparation and attention to detail our coating work is much nicer than that done by the header manufacturers in their factorys. Our prices are the best available and our quality is second to none. Price to coat inside and out and polish shorty headers $140.00 , long tube small block $180.00. Some Third Gen specific coated header prices: Hooker 2460 $249.00, Hooker 2210 $569.00, Hooker 2055 $519.00, Hedman 68460 $258.00, Hedman 68470 $249.00. Hedman 68481 AIR inj set single cat cars $469.00. Edelbrock 6876 set with AIR inj dual cat cars $479.00, Edelbrock 6872 set AIR inj single cat cars $469.00. On the sets such as the Hooker 2055 and Edelbrocks that include y pipes , the price is for coated headers and painted y pipes. The y pipes can be coated for $50.00 extra. Thanks Dirk, Dave at American Coating Specialties 1329 South Houston Ave., Humble, Texas 77338 Ph 281-446-6203 Email dhamil@texas.net Our website is being updated and will be back up soon. The pic is a set of Hedman 68460 1 5/8 in long tubes for 3rd gens.

I got some Hedman's off Dave last week. Havn't installed them yet but checked em out pretty good. He coats inside and out. Coating looks really nice. He even welded an o2 bung on for me on the left collector.

As far as the service goes, these guys are great. Dave and Jimmy (whos the shop manager) are always very polite. I can't remember the other kid in the shop or the girl that answers the phone often, but they are also very nice and helpful as well.

A few days after placing my order, I asked to change it and it was "No problem sir!". These guys are great.

What's an extra value is buying the headers direct from them. I.e, my hedman's. They go for 119.00 from summit, plus shipping. To have 'em coated, i'd have to have bought them from summit, sent out to jet hot, pay them, pay all the shipping costs between, etc.
Dave resells them coated (for only $130.00 more than the cost of the header from summit or jegs) and shipping was like 12.00.. You can't beat that.

only questions i have is what do you do about the air tubes on the 2055's? i got a coated set from summit and the air tubes has ceramic BBs stuck in the air tubes.
i called summit ,they told me to call hooker, i called hooker, they saoid send them back and we will see what can be done. it was a round and round deal.
i sent them back and i guess getting a coated set wasnt on the order so they sent me a black painted set which was fine. so now my other ques is what type of warrenty do you have on your work?

Hi, A new website will be up soon, this is why I didnt post the link to the old lame one, but someone posted it for me . They were trying to help and I appreciate it, but please ignore the old site. The warrantee is 3 years for any kind of peeling or flaking, and lifetime on rust through on the metal on new headers. We dont offer a black high temp coating right now, we had done some in the past but had almost zero demand for it. As far as the question about the air tubes we plug them the best we can before they go through the polisher and we have always been able to remove and or break out any beads that end up in the tubes. We always coat inside and out, we dont have a lower price for just outside. I Dave Hamilton am one of the owners, the other is my business partner Mike Adamoli, he mostly takes care of shop equipment and shop technical work. Our shop foreman is Jimmy, he or I can answer questions about the coating or which headers do I need type questions. Kimberly works in the office part time. We currently have 4 technicians in the shop that do the coating and prep work. I can weld in O2 bungs in any headers that we sell or on yours if they are sent here for coating for $18.00 total per bung. Thanks for the interest everyone. We beat all other sources on price for coated header sets and coating work, plus ours are coated better and are much shinier. You can email us at dhamil@texas.net or call the shop at 281-446-6203. Thanks, Dave

Hello 86305, We charge $45.00 to $65.00 to coat the headpipe depending on length. This coating on an atv pipe cuts way down on that fried leg problem that most atv riders have. Thanks, Dave

What product do you use to coat heades? someone like TechLine
HPC? etc..

Or do you formulate and produce your own also?

our coating

Our coating is a manufactured aluminized ceramic that is comprable to Jet-Hots. We do not mix our own as this is a science better left to the professinals. The coating we use creates a beautiful finished product that we a are extremley proud to provide to you!!! Thank you Jimi@ ACS.
P.S. I apologize for my misinformation about Jet-Hots warranty
That was I not Dave that posted that message.

I look forward to helping all you guys on 3rd gen out any way I can!!!

Thats but that didnt help much. I know jet hot formulated there own. and Its a science.

TechLine makes a great ceramic coating. Personally I use techline and like it alot. but Im almost out and was thinking of trying another Co. just to compair. like HPC etc..

Thanks Anyways, I understand if you dont want to say who makes it.

I dont know if I was any pursuasion... but about that year and a half ago or so.... anyway.... a long time ago I recomended Dave check this site out... as well as get an ad here. Good to see it finally done. Congrats and thanks again for a great product.

Hello, If the headers are brand new you get our regular full warranty, If they are used and not so rusty that they are pitted you get a 1 yr warranty. If they are pitted we can just guarantee our coating to stick and be shiny.
Thanks Jimi @ ACS

O R D E R E D Mine T O D A Y!!!!!!

I ordered my headers from ACS today.

I emailed Dave on Monday with what I was looking for in headers

My bigest concern was that after all was said and done that the CAT would reside in the same postion as it does now. Since I have the TDS/Alston SFC's welded on. if the cat were moved it might cause a problem. I also wanted to make sure the car was emissions legal when I got done so I needed to make sure the headers worked with the AIR system.

Dave took the time to research and find preciesly the product I would need to accomplish what I was trying to do. He called me at work on Tuesday with a couple of options. He was very friendly and knowledgable. Best of All he is also a ThirdGen Nut like the rest of us!

I should have my new headers in about two weeks. I'll post again when I get them.

THANKS DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jet hot may be cheaper on coatings but you get what you pay for.
Dave is a few bucks cheaper then me on ceramic coatings but there are diff. from Every company around. Product used, warrentys etc..

Ive had a set of headers go bad that Jet Hot did. They lasted about a yr. Since Then Ive started, Ceramic,Thermal and Powdercoating myself.

Just tryin to point out Its HIT or MISS with Jet Hot. and The prices they charge arnt worth the work I had em do thats for sure.

I was very happy with the quality and service I recieved from Jet-Hot. They have the same 3 year warrentee, so why didn't you take them up on it? I'm looking into the Hooker 2210s right now, and its

Jet-Hot: $572 to my door with 2 O2 bungs
ACS: $627 with same

$55 probably doesn't sound like alot to you guys, but since I'm 17 and make $6.45, its alot to me.

i bought a set of these (the lt's pictured) headers last month. i havent had the time or money to put them on yet, but they look great. very happy with them coating the inside and out. i ordered mine from ebay, total coated and o2 bung welded came out to $300. I think that is a pretty fair pirce, and when i called, they were very friendly over the phone. glad to see they are a sponsor on tgo now.

i would recommend to anyone.
thanks for the hedders dave.

quick question.....you sell honda headers?

You get the 68470?

They did a great job on mine. The y-pipe needed about 3 hours of re-working/mods (not acs problem, hedman's design sucks). If your running aftermarket heads, or a large starter good luck.

Hedman coated headers

Hi,

Im wondering if You gujs sell Hedman coated headers 68481? If You do maybe You can give me some info about them since Hedman dont respond. How much are they? How much will it cost to ship them to Sweden(approximatey). What dimension is the collector and the Y-pipe?

Is it really worth getting the Y-Pipe ceramic coated too for the extra $50? Usually when you buy headers that are ceramic coated the Y-pipe is not. Do you think it would be fine if it was not coated?

I recently purchased my Hedman headers from ACS. I went ahead and got the Y pipe coated. I did not do it so much for the heat as for the better flow characteristics of the coated pipe as well as for rustproofing.

My system starts with coated headers and continues on through a stainless steel Catalytic converter and a Stainless Steel Catback. It would have seemed absurd to put an uncoated mild steel Y pipe into that system.

If $50 is a lot of money to you and you don't mind haveing to replace your Y pipe somewhere down the road then by all means Save the bucks. Even now $50 will buy a lot of Cold Beer... (Which we would never dream of drinking inside our cars!). If you want a better flowing system that is protected from rust then the coating would, I think, be appropriate.

Hi, I was wondering about the 2055's. Altogether for shipping to 27203, ceramic coated y-pipe and headers and o2 bung. Also, was wondering if you would cut the air tubes off and weld them back on the other way so they would fit and not be backwords. This is needed for a L69 motor right? How much extra would it cost to do this? I plan on ordering some this spring, along with some suspension goodies.

Hello, Okay, The 2055s are $509.00 + $50.00 to coat the y-pipe and $60.00 to reverse the AIR tubes and $18.00 for the o2 bung.
Shipping for all to Asheboro is $21.00 TOTAL for ALL: $658.00
Some Suspension Goodies??? Do you want us to ceramic coat them?? Or get them for you???
P.S. I can recommend one hell of a Powder Coater for you!!!
He can Powder Coat wood and porcelain and it takes 700 degrees to blister it and 1700 to burn it all the way off!!!
His stuff is great on chassis etc.!!!
Thanx
ACS

Hmmm, I might order some later on, what I am doing right now is pricing so I can decide on what to do. The 2055's, LCA's (ordering Lakewoods from jegs), and I need SFC's, and torque arms to get me started. Appreciate the offer though.

(man high school budgets suck )
