Problems w/ the Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace?
Has anyone had any problems with the Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace and its fit under the hood? I just installed mine and one side of the hood is not flush with the body now. I think that one of the hood supports is coming in contact with the bracket that is fastened to the driver-side strut tower. Has anyone else had this same problem and if you did how did you fix it? Any suggestions?

Mine hits the underside hood braces as well. When I go to repaint the car this fall, I'll take the hood off and clearance the braces where the STB hits. I don't have any hood insulation on it yet, I think I would have problems shutting the hood if I did.

Mine hits my hood also. I had to notch the holes on the mounting bracket that mounts to the strut tower to lower it. I still think it hits and I am as low as I can go. I want to add hood ins. but I dont know if it will fit now. I would not buy this product again.

Mine is the TBI version, but it hits also. The underhood light is what is it's touching...passenger side.

I've been using the TPI model with ASCD's RamAir I hood with no problems. On my TPI TransAm, I've got the brace all the way down and it has about 3/16" clearance between the brace and the top of the plenum. No signs of rubbing on the hood.
It'd be interesting to see if there's clearance issues between Camaros/Firebirds and TBI/TPI.

In my case it's the TPI Firebird. From what I understand the Camaro's are not a problem. I don't know about the TBI but if the brace is bent the same (same hight above the strut towers) then Firebirds with TBI will have the same problem.

I think I might try to grind away the portion of the support that is coming in contact with the srut tower brace until the hood is flush with the body again. Would this work? Or, would it cause problems with the strength of the hood?

I would think that clearancing the underside of the hood would be less hassle than modifying the STB mounts. Less load on the hood than the STB.
