Prominator Group Buy - The Real Thing
Okay, I've discussed it with Bill and here's what we're going to do;
We're going to have a group buy of Prominator PRO versions - at FIFTY DOLLARS OFF. That's $225. This is a one time offer. That's only $50 more than a Standard version. (We probably won't be offering a Standard version for a while.)
Part of the reason the discount is so big is that you will have to wait at least 4-6 weeks for delivery while they are being manufactured and you will be paying up front. We need at a minimum, ten people to do this group buy.
If you are interested, contact me via e-mail at ken7382@earthlink.net and put "Prominator Group Buy" in the subject. If you want to get others in on the group buy, please feel free to post on other forums that we are having a group buy, and post this information in there. (Please copy/paste so they know the stipulations.)

Email also sent. Will post around on other fora...
Just for clarification, how do we work the other pieces that some of us need, like the MEMCAL adapter?
Thanks.

Problem with the server?
I am interested but was unable to send you an email. Let me know when the server is back up.

Matt, try again. Are you sending to the e-mail address above? That's my ISP's e-mail, so it's possible their server was down.
So far I have 5 people from here and the CrossFire forum. Keep 'em coming.
Also keep in mind that I'm not sure what track hurricane Rita is going to take, so I may be offline this weekend.

Just a note; I am in "zone B" for evacuations for hurricane Rita, so I will very likely be offline the rest of this week; if you don't get an immediate response please wait until after this weekend. This will not affect the group buy as Bill is in Colorado and the assembly will be up near him.

Thanks guys, I've evacuated my house and I'm currently at my grandmother's house; she is in SW Houston, far enough inland that we should be fine. I took the CrossFire Forum server with me, so the data there is safe as well.
BTW, I'm up to 6 people for the group buy, so keep them coming!

Glad to hear you're safe! Just watched the weather and that storm looks bad and now they say it might slow down over east Texas. That is if their guess on direction is correct.

I think we're at 6.
I survived Rita! My home took no damage and I'm set back up here at the house again.

I've been in and out the past few days. I cannot get the email link to work so I'll ask the question here.
Would it be possible for me to send my car's computer, my old laptop, and my aldl connector cable to you?
I would like for you to install the Prominator (and any other needed hardware/software), the 8-way switch and the stock 1988 GTA 5.7 automatic bin on at least 4 of the eight available slots (I would leave the #1 and #8 slots at stock, then practice modifying #2 and #7 and after getting more comfortable, download different bins into slots #3, #4, #5, and #6).
My thinking is you could be sure everything is working right before sending the parts back to me. I am not the most computer literate person. If my old laptop (purchased for this purpose) does not do the job, I want to make sure it is the lap top-not me.
If this is possible, what would be the charges (not including shipping)?
If you would rather not reply here, please email me at jmssrf@scrtc.com
Please note I will be in and out the next few days and it may be after that before I can reply back.
Thanks,
jms

I will e-mail the interested parties with payment details. Keep in mind that we will need payments ASAP so we can get the production run going.

I just wanted the regular prominator . I've already got 3 emulators... no need for another.
Anybody with a regular prominator want to sell? If so, contact me through PM or e-mail.

For everyone else, I will be ending the Group Buy tonight, as we already have a total of 12 people now and I'm sure everyone would like to get this rolling! I am typing up the details, so please pay careful attention to it! I will be sending it out tonight.

Ken,
I just saw this..just what is the prominator? I want to start doing minor mods to chips. I have 305 TPI setups that I want to run on 350 blocks as well as TPIs I want to put in older cars so I need to turn off the vats, speed limiter, etc..I have read all about the hardware needed to burn chips, where does the prominator fit into the equation? Does it replace a piece of hardware or improve it? If I knew what this was maybe I would get in and buy one if you are letting more be built.
##edit did more searching and found that it is a on the fly programmer/chip replacement..once you have the settings the way you want, do you then burn those settings into a permanent chip so you can move the prominator to the next car? Or is this more designed to be tweaked until it is happy and then left with the car permanently?

Ken, thanks for the reply. Yes I plan on doing multiple cars, stock at first and then mods once the stock stuff is in place and working ok. Right now plans are for 4 to 6 cars to start. Thanks again.

Another thing you could do is to install the Prominator into a single ECU and move the 'tuning' ECU around from car to car. Just a thought...

Ken, some of us need/want to buy other parts (like Craig's adapter and one of the nicer switches) and the PROMinator pricing page is still down... can you either post or email the accessory prices?
Thanks much.

The Group Buy is officially over.
JMS, I got your payment.
RICHR, accessory prices are as follows:
$35 for the MEMCAL adapter.
$35 for our blue-LED BIN switcher.
$5 flat rate shipping for the continental US.
Craig, only problem I see with using a single ECM is he'd still need to burn chips for the ECM's that go with that particular car when he's done.. he'd really be better off with your AutoProm, I'd think.

Excellent guys. I'm going to see about getting assembly started sometime next week. I've almost got enough to start on everything! There's a few checks coming that should be here this week as well as a pending PayPal payment that hasn't cleared yet. Almost everyone has paid (or has a check in the mail!)

I'm a newbie to all this, but I do have a 350TBI and am very interested. Is this like a programmable one instead of having chips burnt? Any info would be great! Also, is it too late to get in on it? And any pics? Thanks.

As to wheather the group purchase is still available, I think Kens quote pretty much sums it up.
As far as info on what it is and what it does here are the links that should answer all your questions.

Smokin 91 RS.....
The computer in your car (165) is the same as the 86-89 computer. I am running the 89 computer in my car and I only had to cut an access window in the case (piece of cake) No adapter should be needed. I don't know about any of the others. I think I would need one if I were to try to run my 85 computer (870)..... But why would I do that????

Approximately 4-6 weeks from now, we should have them in our hands and we can start installing them either into ECM's or MEMCAL adapters - or shipping them to those who didn't want either.

We've ordered more than what has been ordered, so we will have some in stock for orders afterwards (however they will be at regular price at that point.)
