Vortec Heads, cam and switching to carb

Just wondering if anyone here was running a set up of something similiar to mine and what the results was.

1993 355
210/224 510/552 lift
Vortech heads, Air gap intake, 1.6 Roller rockers. Headers.
and 750 carb.

What kind of numbers should I see with this set up?

I am running something similar in an '87 Camaro

350
Vortec Heads (10:1)
Air Gap Intake
230/236, .510/.520 (w/1.5's)
670 Street Avenger Carb.

This combo makes approx 375 flywheel hp. I have a 700R, 10" TCI, 3.73 gears. I have not chassis dyno'd the car yet, but it feels fairly healthy and has a fairly stout pull to an easy 6000 rpm. Out of my dyno'ing experiences, I would say it is putting 290-300hp to the wheels through this auto trans. This is a good, reliable "Fun Power" combo for a daily driver. Good luck and have fun!

Just make sure you get your vortecs guides cut down or else you'll be making 0HP with that cam.

Valve spring retainers will hit the top of the guides. Pushrods will bend.

Stock Vortec springs aren't up to this task, either. While getting the guides cut, have the spring pockets cut for larger diameter springs (same tool typically does both).

Springs are done and on, good for .575 lift, same cam I am running in my LT1 and springs with no draw backs there. I am confused as to teh issue here. I was previously told that with the springs I have there would be no issue.

What you need to do is pull the springs off and reinstall the retainers and keepers on the valve stems. Measure the distance between the bottom of the retainer and the top of the guide (or valve stem seal). You want at least .060" more travel available than your cam effective lift.

Most likely, you will have something on the order of .540", which is only good for .480" lift. Some valves may have more, some less.

Nobody mentioned rocker studs yet. With that much lift, you should either pin the press-in rocker studs, or have the heads machined for screw-in studs.
