The #GETFMLR Camaro build (1992 Z28)

Hey guys,

Longtime lurker on this site. I've wanted to purchase a third gen for as long as I could drive but things never lined up for the past 15 years. Either couldn't devote the time, didn't have storage or couldn't find the right car.

Well earlier this year a good friend of mine was selling one and based on a recommendation I went down in Feb to Michigan and looked it over. The roads were still icy so I didn't even get to drive it. Looked really great for the year and started strong. Only noticeable thing was sun damage on the paint. I was told the car originally came from Florida. So I made a payment and I had my car!

It was stored for 2 months and I went back down, completed the import papers and brought the car home to Canada. Stored it for the remainder of winter and finally got started working on it.

So the car was all original except for the paint. That meant that all the weather-stripping and seals were worn out.

Before I went down and picked it up for import I ordered all new weather-stripping and seals from Lonestar. I also got all the recommended front end rebuild parts from Rockauto.com



The steering wheel in the car had seen better days and the airbag was exposed. I decided to replace it with an aftermarket wheel so it could at least pass the safety inspections up here.

The brakes were shot and I was nervous driving it up because even the slightest tap made the car pull to the left HARD!

So I ordered all new set of pads and rotors. Went with a black finish that will turn graphite when worn in. Ceramic pads.



I knew I was going to do an audio setup in the car so here's what I had waiting







I also already have another Kicker EX 2 channel and a Rockford Fosgate Punch 4 channel to run another set of speakers.

Here's the rear 6x9's installed. I decided to expose the speakers since they were kind of muffled back behind the panel.

That's a beautiful car man, I'm partial to the '91-'92 Z28s since they were the last of the 3rd gens they're my favorite and I feel kinda sad that one has left us and I won't be able to buy that one but I'm sure there's plenty left to go around for me here, I mean they only made 6,080 of these 1991s with the 350 in it so I really can't complain but I'm so happy for you because you've finally got a 3rd gen of your own and you got one of the last and one of the best Keep us updated, I like that steering wheel as a replacement for the original one that was no good no more.
