1992 Camaro Rs
Just purchased a 92 Rs for 1,100 it has the 3.1 V6 with 150k miles on it. The body is in pretty good condition needs paint though. The engine is having an idling problem that I am yet to figure out.
Other then that the car was a pretty good buy. Here is the only picture I have taken of it so far.
There will be more to come tomorrow when I get some sun light.

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
The first thing I wish to do is get it running correctly, after that a new interior, I already ripped out the seats and the carpet, going to take out the headliner tomorrow. Needs a new steering wheel, new shifter plate. It basically needs a new interior. But I plan on taking it slow, dont want to rush it.
Im going to start saving for a Paint job, want to do the prep work myself but have never done this before. The color I am interested in is the one my 91 had (pic in the sig) as far as rims I have always loved the C6's but I am not sure yet.
The only thing I plan on doing performance wise for this baby is a full exhaust maybe magnaflow, no Turbo for this 3.1 lol
EDIT: sig not working heres the pic

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
I can't afford to fix it so I'm either selling it to someone who wants all the parts or parting it out. I just put my wheels and tires on sale on craigslist. Engine and transmission still work, thank God. Hopefully I can sell those. Good luck with yours. And hay, I've got allot of parts if you need em.

As I said in my last post I do need some parts for my interior, but I do not have the money for them at this moment. Thanks Though.

Cool Im sure you can get a pretty penny out of those wheels and tires. The engine as well. Good luck to ya. I had the same engine on craigs list for about 3 months and nobody wanted it ended up giving it away for FREE.

I may be getting a little ahead of myself with this but I have been eyeing these headlights for a while, definitely want to get them.

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
UPDATE: Finished stripping all the carpet out of the car today fortunately there was no rust whatsoever in the hatch area. YES!
Decided to remove the dash pad and headliner as well. Guess what I found under the headliner.
http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/.../****001-1.jpg
http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...on/****002.jpg
If you guessed RUST! than you are correct FML!
EDIT: if pics not showing click here
http://thirdgen-nation.proboards.com...ead=312&page=1
So my question is should I just send this one to the crusher already? Just kidding. But seriously it does not seem like I can get to that area without having to cut?
Please help, Any advice is good advice.

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
have not had time to post any pics/details.
The interior is rust free. sanded, primered, and painted.
Still looking for a new interior. Need carpet, seats, headliner, dashboard
Want to do the fourth gen center console mod, how easy is that? Does it bolt right it?

It bolted right in I would believe it would be easier to do the complete swap plus you'll have a glove box as a bonus :-)

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
To complete the Interior I will be needing Carpet, headliner, steering wheel, dash pad, and a bunch of various pieces.
I plan on making a rear seat delete kit for it, like this
http://www.rearseatdelete.com/camaro4/CamaroRSD2.jpg.
Still having problems with the engine, car turns on and idle's fine but when I give it some gas it starts to die down??
Now that I am done with all the interior rust removal, the engine will be my only focus.
As for the exterior I have done nothing.
The plans are to paint it Arctic White. Going to begin prepping it for paint as soon as I get it running.

*UPDATE*
Finally got a new interior,
Carpet, all the misc. interior pieces, and the steering wheel in GREAT shape.
Here's the only pic ive taken so far.
The Steering Wheel, it has no tears, and is not very worn. Im going to need to use something to clean it up good. but thats the only problem.
The rest of the interior is Tan I believe.

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
Cleaned the steering wheel up some,
Still needs some work to look like new!
The carpet needs alot of work to look good.
All of the interior pieces are scratched and somewhat faded, but that shouldnt be a problem because I will be buying the carpet for them
from Thirdgen Ranch
http://thirdgenranch.com/-strse-1134...kit/Detail.bok
I also plan on purchasing some floor mats similar to these.
http://www.chevymall.com/Velourtex2.asp
They are a bit EXPENSIVE lol

What would you have to do in order to get your seats heated?

*UPDATE*
Got the hatch carpet in today, cleaned it up as good as I could. unfortunately I have no before and after pics.
I still need to clean up the front carpet, so I can get it in. Plan on having my entire interior together by the end of this week.
Here are some pics
The only major things I need for the interior now is a dasboard, and headliner.
As for the exterior, it still looks like this
But Hope to have that changed soon.

Made some progress today......
Got the rest of the carpet in along with the center console.
Unfortunately the lack of no lighting stopped me from being able to do the rest.
Wont be able to touch the car again until Thursday.
School and work combined are killing THE PROGRESS!
Oh, yeah and GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes and no.
Those rims are the originals from my bro's 86 iroc ( im lucky he let me borrow them)
Gonna roll with them until I can afford some nice rims for it. Most likely some C6's.
Then hes going to put them in a box and throw them up in his Attic.
and heres a pic of my bros car just in case you were wondering

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
Got the rest of the center console in, and bolted it down. bolted in the steering wheel as well need to get the airbag in, which unfortunately will not be working neither will the horn be, because the previous owner decided to cut those, "very unnecessary wires" Anyone know what I would have to do in order to track them down and get them re-wired?
anyways also got all of the misc interior pieces in, Kick panels ETC.
Need to get both the seats bolted in there and my interior will be done. With the exception of no backseats and no dashpad.
also an update on the paint, one of my buddy's is willing to do the car for me just as long as I buy the materials and bring them to him, and the car of course
He does pretty good work from what I have seen he did his thirdgen about a year ago I believe, and it turned out great!
But this will all be on hold until I get this damn engine running correctly.
Now that I am pretty much done with the interior all, my money will be thrown into fixing the engine.
The throwing of the money into the engine will begin this saturday at 8:00AM. ...................... Pics of the interior on saturday aswell.

Everything has been slow lately financially and just overall the weather has been kinda bad (stupid rain) Didnt get a chance to do anything to the engine over the weekend.
The biggest achievement was getting sun visors and seatbelt receivers for it, still have not installed.

So the interior is almost "whole" need a dashpad for it (which I am working on getting) and it will be done, with the exception of no rear seats.

Will be changing out the doors soon then I will have the correct door panels/armrest...

Sounds easy enough might add that to my " to do list"
when it comes to sanding/buffing can it be done by hand??
If not what do I need?

Cool I might start on this tomorrow... Since I have a half day of school and no work
Removed the intake today and discovered that replacing the injectors is more difficult than I thought it would be...
As soon as I lifted the intake off I could instantly smell a strong scent of gas, and when I touched the Injectors there was fuel all over the area.
I am assuming this is bad??
anyways ran out of light today
going to give it another shot tomorrow......

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs

Yep I agree, but the 17's also look great.
Theres never anything wrong with changing stuff up, its the people who put 22's on their cars that scare me
anyways
i removed the fuelrail/injectors today
it was much easier than I thought.
Going to test them and move on from there...
Will have more updates by the end of the night...

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
Tested then with a multimeter (which I have never used before)
If I did it correctly then I do have a couple injectors out....
Going to mess with it some more tomorrow...

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
Tested them again today.
They all have a very low resistence so I will be replacing all six of them
and getting rebuilt one's from http://www.southbayfuelinjectors.com/ for $130.

Re: 1992 Camaro Rs
Some progress today...
Removed the rocker panel, going to replace it with the one from my old car.
going to remove the front quarters panels tomorrow and replace both doors with the ones from my 91...
Also removed the front chin spoiler, needs to be replaced entirely going to look for a good one at a junkyard...
The rain and work stopped me from completing this today. Off tomorrow and hope to have at least half of it done..
as for the engine I will be ordering the new injectors when i am financially ready.. hopefully that is soon
