Okay from what i remember,i think the Electric signal needs to go to an electric gauge.
If you have a choice between a mech speedo and electric, get a mech speedo and mech cable to run to your th350.
Or get an electric speedo and run an electric speedo signal to it.
I would way rather get an electric gauge. Dont get too confused with people telling you to purchase an adapter kit. Its not really worth it IMO

Well I spoke with Pocket and he gave me this part number for summit racing 250-4153 checked it out and only $50 I can live with that now I just gotta find out what gears I gotta change to make it read correctly.

Re: what speed sensor for 5.3/th350
Cheapest method is with factory parts
Find a TH350 tail in a junkyard with a large VSS hole that matches your output shaft length. TH350's came in 6", 9" and 12" variants, like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-TH...item518d0a24db
Next, get a VSS from any 90-current 2WD truck or RWD car that came with a 4L60E. Quick way to tell that you've got the right one is it wont have a driven gear or shaft on it, just two magnets exposed
Finally order a new 40 tooth reluctor ring. These are tough to remove without the proper tool, so just order one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACDEL...item5ae184afcf
That will get you the LSx 40ppr signal expected for minimal fuss
One stop shopping would be something like this, but speed calibration in the PCM may be required

Other pass-through mechanical to electric VSS' also work with calibration, but are generally more expensive

Re: what speed sensor for 5.3/th350
So your saying that even if I buy the part from summit its not gona be enough to atleast get it working? I know ill most likely have to ghange the gears on the tail shaft for the speed to read right but I was under the impression that I just wire the adapter into thew vss wires comming from my pcm.

Re: what speed sensor for 5.3/th350
After looking at that tailshaft housing I actualy think the one on mine has the big hole. My th350 is a 9in tailshaft with an adapter block then the 6in housing with the proper mount for my tq arm. I pulled this transmission from my 82 when I sold it and was of course not the original transmission for that car. Ill climb under it tonight when I get off work and get a picture of it and post it up. So if I have the correct tailshaft does that mean I buy that wheel and the newer vss wwith pigtail and wire it up?

Yeah I've looked up on how to do it but my question is where to get the speed sensor and what for and where to get the pigtail for it?

Re: what speed sensor for 5.3/th350
Signal type isnt compatible with the LSx PCM
Get the VSS from any 2WD car or truck that came with the 4L60E. Connector should be wired into your harness already, but in case its missing/wrong, you can use a CTS connector from the JY. Which wire goes where is not important for the magnetic VSS

Ill have to look at the harness in the morning. When you wired it it was done for the t56 but the th350 was going to be used temp. Until I can get the money for the t56.

That's what I was thinking. Thought I remembered seeing vss wires labled in a bundle close to the pcm connectors and out in the engine bay I've got two extra plugs I believe for the t56.
